There was a change of part number in December 2009. This change coincides with a modification to the steering rack tie-rod ends and associated ball joints. The amount of thread on the tierods increased from 17mm to 29mm and the balljoint shaft diameter increased from 12mm to 14mm at these vin numbers:

Pay no attention to any part number that may be cast into the knuckle - that is an internal production number and relates to the bare casting only. It is NOT the catalogued Audi part number

You will need to conduct your own research if you intend to use the parts being sold here on a car built possibly later than those vins. The following information comes from one of the B8 owners' forums:

"If you lift the corner and look at the nut on the bottom for the lower curved's ball joint, it'll be either a 12mm or 14mm hole/bolt. Additionally, it'll either be a single piece collar nut or look like a two-piece flange nut with integrated thick washer. The latter is used after the Nov 2 '09 change. (if it's the old 18mm socket two piece nut, then there's no question as you're dealing with a pre Nov '08 vehicle. In order to confirm the m12 vs m14 ball joint width pull the bottom nut off the back control arm and measure it with a metric rule. not exactly calipers, but you can discern the difference between m12 and m14 based on the opening in the silver sleeve (not the threaded end of the ball joint"
