This module will plug directly in and swap for your Japanese market Navigation DVD drive. If you do not have a Navigation drive at all in your particular car then you will also need a wiring adapter kit and an additional antenna. It is unlikely that any coding will be required (VCDS - VAG Com etc), but I cannot 100% rule out that possibility. Component protection willl definitely NOT be triggered by fitting this part

Note: On some Jap-import cars, particularly very early A6 A8 Q7 built prior to 2006 that have MMI2G-High fitted, there is a possibility that your main system firmware will need upgrading before the car can talk to this navigation module. Please enquire in chat prior to purchase and I will be happy to talk this through with you. I can also point you to free download sources for the upgrade firmware. If you have come as far as looking at this listing then you probably already have some idea of what is involved, but ultimately the responsibility for a firmware update is on the buyer

You will still need to obtain a copy of the most up-to-date (and final version) 2015 DVD with the map data on it. I can help with this after purchase, for an additional cost of $75 - 125

There are "specialists" out there in the NZ marketplace who will convince you that this upgrade is worth $2000 and more of their "expert" time to carry out the work. They have made a lot of money out of unsuspecting buyers over the years, when in fact all they have been doing is swapping the module for a used one like this

I am not providing a part number, because there are several variations, and the earlier types were less reliable. Rest assured that any units I supply are 100% correct for NZ, are more recent part number revisions, and also have been tested and upgraded to the latest possible firmware level. I test all units, and inspect the condition of the moving parts in the DVD drive mechanism. If there is any doubt as to the drive being in good condition then I fit a BRAND-NEW DVD drive mechanism prior to sale. This too is a genuine part

If you purchase this then you understand that there is a small amount of dismantling and some basic tools involved in order to gain access to your old module and to install this one in its place
