This is a good quality aftermarket part but not genuine

A few years ago VAG decided to eliminate the dipstick from many models, even though they still fitted a tube for one, & then put an easily removed cap over it for the workshop to use. Evidently you should rely on a sensor to tell you when you need oil, through the dashboard display

** THEIR SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK VERY WELL. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A PROPER OLD-SCHOOL MANUAL METHOD TO CHECK OIL LEVEL **

Here is a list of just some of the engine identification codes that might need this part. There are others, so I recommend that you use Google to check around the forums. You will likely find someone else who has already established if this is the correct part number for a particular engine, eg:

Note: There is an earlier style of dipstick which is ONLY for 2.7L and 3.0L TDI diesel models prior to 2009 which DID have a dipstick from the factory. That version is a little longer at approx. 61 mm. You can find that type also on this store by searching for part # 059115611AB
