If you have fitted one of the very popular Chinese market RCD330G or other similar upgrade radios to your VW then the main problem you might encounter is a flat car battery because the newer MIB-generation radio cannot talk properly to the older CAN databus module interface in your car,

The result is that the car's electronics do not properly go "to sleep" after the ignition switch is turned off, resulting in battery drain There are non-genuine adapters which provide a cheap and nasty workaround for the issue, but the only proper solution is to fit a new CANBUS adapter from a later generation. I have fitted a number of these myself, and they are plug-and-play in most cases. On a small minority of vehicles (4-Motion mainly) you may need to re-code the replacement module, but if you are already looking at this listing then you likely already understand what is involved. There are also a small percentage of cars with very high level factory specification that need even newer and more sophisticated versions of the gateway. I have only ever encountered a single car in which this was the case - 99% of the time the module sold here will do everything that is needed

WARNING!: In all installations that I have done myself these have been plug and play, BUT NOTE THAT MY MODULES WILL ONLY WORK OUT OF THE BOX BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPLIED PRE-CONFIGURED BY MYSELF FOR RIGHT-HAND DRIVE CARS! The default coding on a brand-new module is for LHD when bought from other suppliers, meaning in the case of Golf etc the rear foglight and reversing light will not work and a diagnostic tool will definitely be needed to adjust those settings, usually at extra cost to yourself. Very unlikely to be the case when you buy from me though!
