These calipers have even more piston area than the more commonly known but much older 17Z or 18Z Brembo Calipers. VAG changed the fitment on Porsche and Touareg around 2008 to this newer 4-pot type
1LE 2x46mm pistons - 3324 sq.mm
18Z 30/34/38mm - 2749 sq.mm
17Z 34/36/38mm - 3060 sq.m
This newer Brembo 1LE BM5 caliper looks smoother and has no external cross-pipe. Some maintain that it is is a big bonus and improvement over the older 17Z and 18Z
