Note: This switch is intended for cars that have the switch on the left side of the gear selector. It will fit and function correctly on either side, but for a correct cosmetic match the switch cap for the "Autohold" section of the switch has a slightly different profile for each side of the centre console. See highlighted photo. If you want the correct look and need to fit the switch to the right side, you have only 2 options:
1: Use this aftermarket switch and pop off the button cap carefully with a small screwdriver and swap it with your old cap. This works - we do it for our customers
2: Buy a genuine switch for right side from VW and pay 5 times as much for that luxury. A no-brainer, really
These switches fail regularly on the Tiguan, resulting in difficulty in either engaging or releasing the electrically operated hand-brake
